US 6: Gateway to Helper
Highway 6 is the main access to Helper. US 6 connects with I-15, which is the primary north-south route through Utah and with I-70, which provides access to Denver in the east and Los Angeles in the west. US 6 takes travelers from the western foothills of the Wasatch Mountains along a winding path high over the mountain range and down into the desert plateau region of Utah. There are few services along the highway except at the communities of Helper, Price and Green River. There are two public rest stops with restrooms.

Things to keep in mind:
-
Drive attentively. US 6 is a highway, not a freeway. It has 2 lanes in some places and 4 lanes in others. You can expect to share the road with all kinds of traffic, including trucks, commuters, motorhomes and motorcycles.
-
Always check weather conditions before heading out on US 6. Weather is often different at the northwestern and southeastern ends of US 6. It might be sunny in Helper but snowing at the highway summit.
